Tempt the Devil Leisure historical romance

“Ye cannot kill the devil”, whispered the throng at the hanging of the notorious Diablo. Moments later the pirate had escaped the noose and abducted Lady Devon, whisking her aboard his ship. Infuriated, Devon swears she will have nothing to do with her captor. But long days at sea and even longer nights beneath the stars bring Devon ever closer to surrender. .

2 Stars Okay
This book was entirely to long. I like the sex scenes but I think there were to many. I usually like Connie Mason books especially “The Black Knight”. This one not so good.

5 Stars First and Best
I am a really big fan of Connie Mason. This was the first Connie Mason book that I read and I loved it so much, I decided to purchase everyone that she had ever written. I haven’t been disappointed yet!

4 Stars Good, but not Connie Mason’s best.
I believe I would have enjoyed this book more if there had been one less abduction of the leading lady, Devon. Three times she was taken from the hero of the story, her lover and eventual husband Kit; AKA “Diablo” the notorious pirate. The first time you can feel for the couple. The second time, you can still sympathize. The third time, you’re just left feeling “oh brother… again?” The last time was also annoying because she could have easily escaped from the “deaf/ mute” maid that she was left with… but she never even tried.
I’m a big Connie Mason fan. I love many of her books, including “The Lion’s Bride”, “The Laird of Stonehaven”, “Sheik”, and “Lionheart.” However, this one repeated it’s themes and restated the history of the many characters over and over again. I believe it could have been great, if about 100 pages of it had been deleted. I was also dismayed at the way every single character found love in the end. A bit too idealistic. Even two of the worst foes of the story, who kidnapped and even tried to kill the leading lady, never got justice… instead finding true love. Only one foe of the story actually received his just punishment.
It was still a good read, because Mason made the leading couple so magnetic. The love scenes are good, although they also got a bit repetitive. I liked both the hero and the leading lady. All of the characters of the book very vividly written. Overall, I just wasn’t as enthralled in Mason’s story line as I have been with her other books.

3 Stars A good fantasy romance
I have read a lot of Connie Mason books, most are good. In this book the capture scenes are a little to much, I mean who in their right minds would allow themselves to be taken that many times, but of course this is fiction. Overall this is a interesting book. The plots are good, and of course you’ve got plenty of sex scenes, as with most of her books, but all in all it makes for a good fantasy reading book. At least her heros ,adn heroins are strong figures, most of the time. I enjoyed and will buy more.

5 Stars A good read for me
The thing that I love about this book is that the minute you start reading there is action and chemistry between Diablo and Devon a good page turner, romance, action and good Connie Mason sex scenes.

The capture senes were a little crazy 3 times honey self defense course *joking*, but i love it..

If your looking for a good book to relax with and just let lose in try this one..it might be the typical pirate of the seas romance but still a good and ok read…

2 Stars Coulter Historical Romantic Fiction
If I like the way an author writes, I give that author’s genres, other than mystery, a chance. These stories have become boring. I am going back to her FBI and crime fiction. Her plots are still fine there.

5 Stars Excuse a male for being confused
If women so loath being treated like dirt why do they read so many novels in which the main male character treats his women this way?

I ask myself this question when reading this novel and a number of other romances.

She is basicly abducted from her home and given to this guy who mistakes her morals due to the lies his mother has given him. He treats her like dirty cloths. He tosses her into his harem to be kept as a slave. He thrashes her. He ravishes her. He treats her like dirt.

Eventually they fall in love.

The twists in this one are really interesting.

Still, do women actually enjoy being treated like this?

5 Stars Intense
This story is a sequel to the most violent Catherine Coulter book ever. Devil’s daughter Arabella is the daughter of the Earl of Clare, who years ago kidnapped and raped her mother because he was infatuated with her. Her mother eventually fell in love with her father and gave him two children, one of them Arabella their rebelleous daughter. This is Arabella’s story. She is kidnapped by a former rival of her mother’s and sold into a harem in an Arab kingdom. Her master is half Arabic/Italian and quickly finds out Arabella will not be submissive. This book has some very brutal violence as well, but the chemistry between the two characters is so intense, that the hero will give up all others for her. She is eventually freed but still chooses to stay with him.

5 Stars *NOT AS GOOD AS DEVIL’S EMBRACE BUT STILL A *5*
As I said with “Devil’s Embrace”, people should lighten up. In those years in history, most men were barbarians. They for the most part treated women light trash, no better than dogs. In fact, they treated their pets better than they did their women. If you are a historical romance reader, you take this in stride as the way things were then.

I found this book to be very “INTENSE” and hated to have to put it down to do other things. As one reviewer stated, would have been nice to have Adam & Arabella to have their own stories, but it worked out fine this way, as Adam came to rescue Arabella with Rayna. The way she had the children of the main characters of “Devil’s Embrace” come together was wonderful. Truly enjoyed it.

4 Stars :0)
I am just starting to read Catherine Coulter’s novel for sometime now and I thought this one was pretty good. What I like about it the most is that she’s telling 2 stories in one about the brother and sister but its mainly about the sister. WHAT i also like about her books is that she gives great details in the beinging of the book and doesn’t jump right into the story, I loved Adam and Rayan story, also Arabella and Kamal and the great details she gives for both stories. I got angry when Arabella did laugh when she did and dislike kamal when she did and fell in love with him when she did THATS how you know your reading a good book when you feel what the the 2 people are feeling where your understanding his point of view and her point of view.. The book is very good you might read a couple of bad reviews but its that 1 or 2 review that is good that is going to make you want to buy this book…go for it I think you will love this book.

Devil’s Tower

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

If you ever seen the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind then you’ve seen the Devils Tower. This distinctive mountain landmark is hard to miss.

It became famous when Richard Dreyfuss began having visions of the Devils Tower with its flat top and ridged sides. Soon after having the visions he constructs a crew sculpture in his mashed potatoes. Needless to say his family is alarmed. He becomes more and more obsessed with the mountain. First he makes paintings of it, then he goes off the deep end. When he brings in piles of dirt from the yard to create a scale replica in his living room, his wife and kids leave him. It’s a very famous scene in the movie.

Eventually Richard’s character travels to Wyoming to see the real Devils Tower. Despite warnings from the military to stay away, he sneaks up to the mountain. There he sees an amazing spectacle. Aliens land after communicating with humans using a giant organ. Many people, abducted long ago, come off the ship. Richard’s character is amongst those who choose to travel with the aliens back to their home planet. Given the way Hollywood makes sequels, it’s surprising this open ending didn’t spawn a second movie. It still might. Later versions shown on television and released on DVD included scenes inside the ship. But these weren’t very well done.

Back to the real Devils Tower. It’s located in Wyoming. It’s a monolithic igneous intrusion, otherwise known as a volcanic neck. This is also known as a lava neck. It forms when magma flows out of a volcanic vent. It’s generally the sign of an active volcano. It’s not certain that this formation is such a plug. But many geologists believe it is.

The Indians have a legend about how Devils Tower was formed. Some Indian sisters were walking in the wilderness, picking flowers, when they came upon some bears. The bears chased them. The Great Spirit helped the girls by raising up the land upon which they stood. The Bears would not give up. They tried to climb up to the girls but as they neared the top slid back down. Their claws left the indentations in the side of the structure.

Another legend, this one told by the Sioux Indians, was of two boys wandering far from their village. A giant bear called Mato came upon them. It had claws the size of tepees, and it wanted to eat the boys for breakfast. The boys prayed to the creator to help them. He did, raising the ground beneath them. Just as with the stories involving the girls, and this one the giant bear tried to get at them from all sides but could not. Its huge claw marks remain.

Whether fantastic tales of giant bears or friendly aliens the Devils Tower is a great place to visit.
